To understand your mold problem, let’s cover the basics. Mold loves moisture. The moisture source must be identified and corrected. As for the stains, what you see are fungal mold colonies on the surface of the affected areas. What you can't see is even more dangerous. The microscopic mold spores are or become airborne and act like seeds leading to new fungal mold colonies. These colonies grow roots (Rhizoids) that penetrate deep below the surface.
Once the moisture issue is resolved, we isolate the area to be treated from the rest of the house or building. Next, we kill the surface colonies and spores before the stains are cleaned. This prevents the disturbed mold from releasing live spores into the air. After the visible stains are cleaned, our BioBlaster process penetrates into the substrate to destroy the mold roots which can be embedded 3/16 of an inch deep. This step not only prevents all hosts of decay and dry rot fungi but also prevents wood boring insects such as carpenter ants, beetles and termites. The final step of our process permeates the contaminated area including insulation and other materials that are otherwise not reachable by traditional methods.
Most mold companies use anti-fungal cleaning chemicals that are harmful to humans and leave behind residual contaminates. These chemicals do not penetrate to the roots and do not kill spores. Some companies take the natural route and use products that contain thyme oil which also does not reach the roots or kill the spores. The BioBlaster system takes care of both problems without leaving behind harmful chemicals.
Another common method other companies use is to blast the surface with baking soda (very messy), or dry ice driven by compressed air. Again, afterwards what you see looks clean as if the problem is solved. The truth is blasting doesn't penetrate deep enough into the substrate to reach the root system. At the same time it sends an army of microscopic spores into the air exponentially compounding the infestation. Another problem commonly unaddressed is the presence of mold spores in other areas such as the HVAC air duct system. Our Bioblaster System kills mold and mold spores in those areas as well.
